KZN Premier to hand over 245-bed quarantine centre for Covid-19

KwaZulu-Natal Premier Sihle Zikalala will tomorrow, Friday 29 May 2020, officially open and hand over the quarantine centre for Covid-19 in Pietermaritzburg to the provincial health department.

The official opening and handing over of the quarantine centre at the Royal Showgrounds will be attended by KZN Health MEC Nomagugu Simelane-Zulu and other senior government officials.

The 245-bed site is one the health facilities in the province designed as a quarantine or isolation centre for Covid-19 patients.

Early this month, President Cyril Ramaphosa visited the facility for inspection as part of his assessment of the province’s response to the Covid-19 epidemic.

The President commended the province for its efforts in preparing  health facilities for Covid-19.
